Car Stereos: Door panel removal on 2004 Chevy Silverado Dually, hex screws, chevy silverado

Question
Brian,

I've got some aftermarket JVC door speakers I want to install on my 2004 Chevy Silverado Dually doors.  What tools do I need and how do I remove the door panels?  Thanks for your help.

Dani

Answer
Hi Dani,

Sorry about the delay in responding to your question.

You'll need to remove the entire door panel to get to the stock speaker location, but it's very easy in the Silverado.

Start by prying off the plastic triangle at the top corner.  Pry out the plastic insert panel behind the door release panel.  Then pry up on the outer edge of the lock/window switch panel; unplug the switches and remove the panel.  Pry out the small lock/unlock indicator piece.

You'll need to remove two 9/32" hex screws:  one is located under the window switch panel, and the other is recessed below the door pull handle.

After the screws are removed, remove the door panel by lifting straight up on it.  (Don't pull it away from the door at first; lift up until it comes free).  You'll need to unplug the light in the lower corner, and possibly disconnect the tweeter (if equipped) before you can remove the panel completely.

Hope this helps!

Brian
