Car Stereos: 2000 lesabre, car stereos, buick lesabre

how  do  I  hook  up  an  aftermarket  deck  up ? I  have  a  wiring harness but  on  my  buick  its  like  a  slot  in  the  back  of  the  factor  radio.

Hi Brian,

This can be a tough car for a new radio installation.  Do you have the correct wiring harness--ie, the one that fits the factory "dock & lock" connector?

Once you have the right harness and antenna adapter, the problem becomes a lack of space at the back of the radio cavity.  When I'm doing these cars, I usually have to dismount the connector terminals from the rear wall of the cavity, and push them down behind the opening to make enough space for the new radio.  You have to be careful not to damage the ribbon cable, and you may need to cut out some of the plastic at the back of the cavity to make enough space.

Depending on the type of wire harness adapter you're using, you may also have to run a wire to a key-switched power source for the new radio.  There's no switched power wire in the factory radio plug.
