Car Stereos: Installing aftermarket stereo in 2003 avalanche, does not power on., chevrolet avalanche, power wires

Attempting to install an aftermarket stereo (Dual brand) into a 2003 chevrolet avalanche with wheel controls.  I purchased a stereo wire harness from autozone that is compatible with this year truck.  I wired the stero harness I purchased with the stereo harness that came with the stereo, but the stereo doesnt turn on.  I know its getting power because the red security light that blinks when the face is removed, blinks, but when the face is on the radio, it never power ons, no sound ever comes out.  What could it be?

My guess would be one of the two power wires is not connected correctly.

Your deck has 2 power wires (plus ground) to give it power.  One is a constant, which gives it 12v all the time.  It uses this to run the safety light and remember its settings, etc.

The other power wire is the switched power wire.  It draws its electricity from this one to actually run.

I would imagine the switched power wire isn't connected correctly or isn't working.  It's usually red in the aftermarket harness.
