Car Stereos: 1998 Chevy Malibu with aftermarket stereo., chevy malibu, sony xplod

I recently installed an aftermarket Sony Xplod head unit in my 1998 Chevy Malibu. I did the installation myself using a wiring guide I have found on the internet, and the stereo sounds great. The problem is, every time I go back in my car and turn it on (or turn it to acc.), the stereo is set back to its defaults. Time goes back to 1:00, and all my settings are gone. All the wires are hooked up correctly, so I don't understand where the problem lies. What could be causing this?

Tom, your constant power wire is not hooked up to the correct wire in your car.  Most times, the switched wire and the constant wire get reversed, and it causes the problem you are describing.  I would switch those two wires, and see if that fixes your problem.  Hope this helps, Scott
