Car Stereos: Removal of Front Panel Dual xd7500n, small screws, loose screws

Question
Hi Brian,
I had bought a dual xd7500n stereo system and I installed it in m car. However, I neglected to read the small instructions stating how to make the face detachable... I ended up throwing them away. It is now about a year later and I would like to make the panel removable due to the area I am getting ready to move into for college. Is there any way you can help me with this?

Thank you very much, Jamin

Answer
Hi Jamin,

The detachable face on your head unit is attached to a metal back plate.  It's secured with two small screws, driven through the back plate and into the faceplate.  To make the face detachable, you need to remove the screws.

To do this, you'll need to remove the deck from the dash (but leave it connected).  Remove the plastic trim ring around the outside of the faceplate, and eject any CD that's in the deck.  Press the eject button so that the faceplate is fully extended, then turn the deck over and remove the two screws with a precision Philips screwdriver.  The faceplate will only remain extended for a short time, so you might have to press eject a few more times to get the screws out.  Be careful not to let the loose screws fall into the mechanism.

Once the screws are removed, you can pull the faceplate off by pressing the release panel, in the center of the rear of the faceplate.

Hope this helps!

Brian
