Car Stereos: No sound, Alpine 9886, alpine cda, internal amplifier

Question
I just bought an Alpine CDA-9886.  Hooked it all up, lights all came on but no sound.  Read through the manual and found a spot where you can turn the internal amp on or off depending on your setup.  Now I have sound.  Had to do some work on my truck, took the battery out installed two more speakers.  Now I have no sound again.  Went into the menu to make sure the internal amp was on.  It is and still no sound.  All the lights and display come on, cd player counts down.  How do I know if the internal amp is blown.

Answer
Hi Gary,

The first thing to check is the back of the deck.  Many newer decks have their own fuse in them to control the internal amplifier.  Ensure it isn't blown.

From there, your next bet is to try hooking up another speaker to the outgoing speaker wires with the volume up and internal amp enabled.  If you don't get any sound, you'll know it's the deck that needs replacement.
