Car Stereos: Hyundai Santa Fe 2003 Moonson Stereo, hyundai santa fe, internal amplifier

Question
QUESTION: Hello Mr. Wheeler:

I have buy a OEM Monsoon Radio out ebay. It is the Model that uses one CD and Cassette (Big bulky one). I took it to 2 diferent Car Audio places to have it Installed and they have concur that "It is power on but no audio signal is coming out of it". I can't get audio from any channel. My question is: Were can I get Info on Monsoon Radios or schematics of it?, and perhaps, what is wrong with it? In the back, there is 2 slots for harnesses and one for the antenna. Can I fix this Radio? and if so, How do I get the information? Thank you for your time and patience.

Luis

ANSWER: Hi Luis,

If two stores have said there's no audio coming out of it, you should probably go back to the person you bought it off of and return it.

The schematics are likely proprietary information, and not readily available to the public.  You'd have to figure it out yourself when pulling it open.

You would not be able to fix it yourself, and the likely problem is an internal issue with it.

Your best bet is to return it to the person you bought it from for a refund.

I spoke to the seller and he refund me the money and also I got to keep the radio. Since I have it, There is any possible way that I can fix it? Probably is better to get another one but I would like to see if I can do this protect with a little help. If you have an idea of what is going on with it, I will appreciate your opinion. I have nothing to loose but a little time. Thank you again.

Answer
Hi Luis,

Unfortunately, the likely scenario is that there is some bad circuitry within the unit, and repairing it would be difficult.

You can check for inline fuses on the circuit board that may have popped going to the internal amplifier.

Other than that, though, repair isn't much of an option.
