Car Stereos: Car speaker install with amp ( infiniti kappa series ), kappa series, infiniti kappa

Question
I have infinity kappa series 52i and 62i speakers. They have a crossover in-line to the speaker. So I have 2 wires leading to the crossover, and 4 wires with 4 connections coming out of the crossover. The 4 connections...2 positive 2 negative connect to the top and bottom of the speaker itself. I am installing an amplifier and need to know where on the speaker itself to connect the leads from the amp to the speaker(s).The amplifier has a built in crossover as well. Thanks,

Answer
Hi Todd,

The crossover built into your amplifier doesn't eliminate the need for the in-line crossover that comes with the speakers, unless you're planning to bi-amp (running the woofer with one amp channel, and the tweeter with a second channel).  If you're planning to use one amplifier channel for each speaker, then you should connect the input terminals on the speakers' crossovers to the outputs of the amplifier.

Hope this helps!

Brian

P.S.  Sorry for the late response.

P.P.S.  Todd, thanks for the feedback; but I'd like to point out that nowhere in your original question did you mention that the speakers were currently connected to a head unit, or make any mention of a head unit at all.  This isn't something I'm going to know about if you don't include that information in your question.  In reading your question, it appeared that you needed to know whether the amplifier should be connected directly to the speakers, or to the crossover; I had no reason to think you were asking about a head unit connection.  In future questions, please include as much detail as possible so that we have a better chance of giving you a useful answer.

Sorry you didn't find my answer helpful.
