Car Stereos: Car Amp (power light not on), red hot wire, amp light

Question
I have only hooked up my red hot wire to the battery for my amp to see if it works, but the amp light will not come on. Is this because i have yet to hook up the Remote wire to the radio and the ground wire to nut on the body of the truck.

Answer
Hi William,

The amp's power light won't come on unless you have 12 volts on the power and remote terminals, and a ground connection on the ground terminal.  If you're testing it at the battery, you'd connect the amp's ground terminal to the battery's negative terminal, and the power and remote terminals to the battery's positive terminal.  If you do this, the power light should come on; if you miss any of these connections, it will stay off.

Hope this helps!
