Car Stereos: constant power, friends dad, car harness

Ok so my problem is that i hook my new stereo up and there is no power. everything is all hooked right but i believe its the constant power. so how do i go about fixing this? should i have a pro fix it for me? my friends dad hooked a wire to my stereo to the cigaret lighter and it worked but it kept on blowing fuses for my lights so i disconnected it. so if you could help me on this that would be great

Hi Ryan,

The simple answer is that if it's not working, it's likely not hooked up right.

Check the fuse for the radio -- make sure that your deck isn't messed up, and has blown that fuse too.

You should be using a factory harness, and just connecting the like colours, then everything should just clip together.

If you've cut the factory harness, put it back together, and get an aftermarket car harness.
