Car Stereos: 09 Impala sound system, factory speakers, maximum volume

Question
I bought a 09 Impala with the factory 6 speaker system (it does not specify Name brand). It does not get load enough for my taste in Rock-n-Roll. Is there a quick fix to this like maybe just adding a small amp to the receiver or do i need to upgrade the whole system.

Answer
Hi Jeff,

If the maximum volume of the audio system just isn't high enough for your needs, then there's not really a quick fix.  You could add an after-market amplifier, but I wouldn't recommend trying to use it with the factory speakers; you'd probably need to upgrade the speakers as well.

On the other hand, if the system gets loud enough but has an unacceptable level of distortion at high volumes, you can try adding an after-market amplified subwoofer.  The advantage of this is that it improves your deep bass response, and allows you to turn down the bass playing through the factory speakers.  This might take some of the strain off the factory head unit's amplifier and speakers, allowing them to play louder without distortion.

Hope this helps!
