when i try to hook my stereo up the led will come on and everything but its one solid color no words nothing and no buttons will work like I've tried hitting tuner and search but it will not take a cd if i try to stick one in it doesn't even attempt to take it out of my fingers

Hi Cody,

It really sounds like the head unit is just defective, but there are a few things you can check.  If you have a deck with a detachable face, make sure it's properly attached.  Also, check the ground wire connection; depending on the vehicle, you may need to connect the head unit's black ground wire to a metal part of the dash structure, rather than to a wire in the factory radio harness.  You might also check to see if the head unit has a "reset" button, either on the front faceplate or on the head unit body under the faceplate.
