Car Stereos: 1990 Ford F-150 radio wires, ford f 150, blown fuses

Question
i was installing my Pioneer DEH-11 cd player in my 1990 Ford f-150, the truck was off and i had the wiring harness i just bought an plugged it in before i started wiring the radio wires to it an i believe some of the wires touched and screwed it up, not sure
and still wired them together and get it to work and it didn't and then tried putting the stock stereo back in and see if it worked and didn't work turned it all the way up to hear anything and it was static an couldn't change station or anything also there was nothing on screen

do you know what i could do to get it working again?

Answer
Hi Zachary,

If you had some wires that touched during the installation, it's very likely that you have one or more blown fuses in the vehicle fuse box.  There are always at least two fuses that supply power to the radio: one's for the constant power (memory) wire, and the other is for the key-switched power supply.  The constant power fuse, in particular, is often shared with other vehicle circuits; and it's not always labeled as a radio fuse.

The first thing to do, then, is check all your fuses.  That's the most common cause of power problems with a new CD player.

Hope this helps!
