Car Stereos: amp upgrade, mitsubishi 3000gt, factory amps

Question
I'm upgrading the audio in my '94 Mitsubishi 3000GT.  I'm planning on replacing the factory system with a 50 x 4 Pioneer head unit, 50 Watt RMS Sony door speakers, 100 Watt RMS rear speakers, and adding a 100 Watt RMS sub.  The factory system has a small amp under the seat whose power is unknown.  Can I hook the head-unit to the speakers and run the amp to the sub, or is there a better way to set this up?

Answer
Hi Joel,

With that kind of equipment in the car, I'd recommend removing the factory amp from the equation entirely.  First off, the wiring on factory amps is usually questionable at best, second, it won't put out enough power to do anything worthwhile.
