QUESTION: Hi, I'm sorry if this seems trivial, but my JVC CD player will only come on when i push the eject button, and thats just to tell me that there is no disc, other than that I cant get any life out of it. I have tried pushing the select and power buttons at the same time to reset it. nothing. any help please??

ANSWER: Hi Mike,

99% of decks will let you eject a CD when the car is off.

This tells me that your 12V constant power to the deck is fine, but the 12V switched that is only powered when the car is on is broken.

Check the wire for fuses, check it for a bad connection, and check your fuse box for popped fuses.  That is almost certainly your culprit.

QUESTION: Hey man, just checked the fusebox, the fuse in the back of the player (changed that one just in case) and as much of the wire as i could get to, no luck. I dont suppose youve got any other ideas? thanks

Hi Mike,

Get a multimeter and test the incoming 12V switched power line.  See if it has 12V when the car is on or in accessory mode.  If it does, your deck might be fried.  If it doesn't, then you know to keep looking.

Test at the harness that plugs into the deck itself and then work your way back.
