Car Stereos: amp to stock stereo hook up, 1998 mitsubishi diamante, mitsubishi diamante

i am having an issue w hooking up an amp and sub to my 1998 mitsubishi diamante ES stock stereo. i have the rca converter and i believe i hooked it up the way it is supposed to go but i am getting no sound from it and the power light isnt on on the amp. but the amp is getting some kind of power because the led light (decoration) is on.

Jayme,  It sounds like you are almost there.  You have used a line level convertor, so that should get your sound signal to the amp properly.  The amp needs three other wires.  A ground wire connected to the chassis.  A power wire connected to the battery (or a full time power supply).  A switched power wire that turns on the amp.  My guess is that you have connected the switched power wire, but the fulltime power wire is not connected.  That would explain why the LEDs are working and not the power light.  Hope this helps, Scott
