Car Stereos: Stereo Problem in 01 Malibu, chevy malibu, initial power

I installed an after market stereo in my '01 Chevy Malibu. I made the mistake of cutting the wires instead of connecting the wiring harness. I have since connected the wiring harness and have matched the wires back. I was getting no power after the initial power up which last only a few seconds. I went back in and re-checked the wiring and can not find any mistakes. Is there something else that I am missing? A fuse maybe? Someone mentioned that there may be some kind of fuse near each speaker. I did get sound initially when I first installed the stereo, but have never gotten anything since.

Michael, It sounds like there is/was a short somewhere, and you need to repair the short, before you move on to functionality of the radio.  Be sure all of your connections are tight and correct, and all of the bare wires are covered with tape.  Once this is achieved, you can move on to fuses or other.  If it still does not work, you will need to get the radio looked at and repaired.  Hope this helps, Scott
