Car Stereos: installing cd player, ford explorer, cargo area

Question
trying to install a cd player in a 94 ford explorer and after all wires are connected the light come on but no sound but there is a black wire what could be the problem

Answer
Hi Angel,

Nearly all of the 90-94 Explorers included a factory amplifier, located under the panel on the right side of the cargo area.  When installing a new head unit, it's necessary to either activate the factory amplifier, or bypass it.  If your new head unit is turning on, but not producing sound, then the factory amp is the most likely cause.

What's the brand and model of your new head unit, and are you using an adapter harness to connect it to the vehicle wiring?  If so, what's the model number of the harness?

If you can follow up with this information, I'll try to assist you with integrating or bypassing the factory amplifier.
