Car Stereos: Adding an mp3 player, chevy tahoe z71, 2004 chevy tahoe z71

Question
I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe Z71 w/ the bose stereo.  I want to hook up an mp3 player to it by using the auxiliary input.  I would like to just wire in RCA cables to the wiring harness on the back of the radio but i don't know where to put the wires.  Can you help me figure out how to go about this?

Answer
Hi Kyle,

Unfortunately, it's probably not as simple as wiring in a set of RCA cables.  If your truck is equipped with an external audio component (such as XM Radio, or a console-mounted cassette player) then you might be able to interrupt the audio signal wires and substitute your MP-3 audio when the external source is selected.  However, if there's no satellite unit, you'll probably need a 3rd-party adapter to fool the head unit into selecting the input source.  There are plenty of such adapters available.  Here's one:

Hope this helps!
