Car Stereos: Speakers, rear speakers, car speakers

Question
I recently replaced a blown rear speaker in my car. Now the other rear speaker is blown and I can not get the same brand speaker to replce it. Is it okay to have to seperate brand speakers or should both be the same?

Answer
Hi Sherra,

It's more critical for front speakers than rear speakers; but ideally, you'd want to use identical speakers for a pair.  You won't damage anything by mixing them, but if the two speakers vary much in sensitivity or tone, it can be a distraction.  Just about all after-market car speakers (except for subwoofers) are sold in pairs in any case.
