Car Stereos: need to put in a car stereo in a 1993 vw passat, vw passat, wire colors

I just get a vw lead harness for my stereo but i do not know the wiring code to put it in.the stereo is a pioneer keh-1400 serial no. is qc023168 if you can tell me what colorers to put the harness I will be grate full.Please if you can e-mail me with what i need as soon as you can you will be the man.

Hi Daniel,

I don't have any manual or support information for the KEH-1400, so I'm not certain of the wire colors on that model.  Older Pioneer decks used different wire colors than current models.  If you have the newer style wiring, the wire colors in the Pioneer harness should match the wire colors in the VW adapter harness.

Can you follow up and list the wire colors you have in your Pioneer harness?  And just to be clear, are you using an after-market adapter harness that fits your Volkswagen plug, or trying to connect directly to the VW wiring?  Finally, is your Passat equipped with an "Aktiv" or Bose speaker system (if so, there should be a logo on the front door speaker grills)?
