Car Stereos: amp for 2001 MontiCarlo, monticarlo, rocker switch

Question
Thanks for getting back Justin. The only other information I can provide is that the amp stays on all the time, and yes, it drains the battery while its sitting in the driveway. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Carolyn,

If your amp is staying on all the time when the car is off, the 'remote' wire has been hooked up incorrectly.

If you look at the amp, there is a remote wire that goes into it and tells it when to turn on.  It sounds like it's been hooked up to the 12V off the battery, thus never turning off.

If you have an aftermarket deck, it will have a remote wire on the back that needs to be run to the amp.  If it's a factory deck, you'll have to find it from somewhere else, or just have it wired up to a rocker switch you can flip.
