Auto Racing: HEMI 526 BRAking, 1964 dodge polara, power brake booster

Question
QUESTION: I AM NOT A CAR EXPERT BY ANY MEANS I INHERITED A 1964 DODGE POLARA WITH A 526 HEMI AND A RACING TRANSMISSION DUE TO THE ENGINE MODIFICATIONS I CANT PULL A GOOD ENOUGH VACUUM FOR A VACCUM ASSIST BRAKE KIT PURCHASED FROM SUMMIT SUPPLY. WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDATION REGARDING PURCHASING A SEPERATE VACUUM PUMP POWERED BY 12 VOLT. ALSO DUE TO THE RACING TRANSMISSION THERE IS NO SPEEDOMETER CONECTION ON THE TRANNY ITSELF WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS TO GET A SPEEDOMETER. DO THEY MAKE A ALTERENATIVE.

ANSWER: thats a hard one

i have no idea why you are having vacuum problems with your engine regarding the brakes... if you can get a vacuum pump that will produce enough vacuum o power your booster then this will be a good solution

as for the tranny... i recon it will be hard to put an external speedo as most speedos now read from the tranny and thus you gotta depend on the tranny speed sensor... unfortunatly i am not aware of any alternatives.

sorry i couldn't be more helpful

QUESTION: WHAT I WOULD LIKE IS A RECOMMENDATION ON A VACUUM PUMP IF YOU KNOW. THE MODIFIED CAM REDUCES VACUUM AT LOW RPM WHEN CRUISING AT 40-80 ENGINE PULLS A GOOD ENOUGH VACUUM. IN ADDITION THE VACUUM ASSIST IS SMALLER THAN REALLY DESIRED DUE TO LACK OF SPACE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

Answer
unfortunatly i am not aware of any vacuum pumps that would serve the purpoe you mentioned however i came across a product that might be a solution

it is called power brake booster orso and it is made by Simota... log on to www.simota.com and take a look at it... it is basicly a tube that increases the vacuum size of your brake booster to inhance braking power

and since you will hook that pipe through hoses then you got ide options for installation as far as the location is concerned... i hope this product help cure your problem
