Auto Racing: race car mechanic, car mechanic, charlotte north carolina
QuestionI am a young energetic man who is wanting to get into race car mechanics as a career. I have read about such schools as the "Jim Russell car racing mechanic school". This is somthing that i am serious about doing, and would like some advice coming from someone who has done and is doing what i want todo. I have no previous experience except for wrenching in my back yard for as long as ive owned a vehicle. I am quite passionate about motorsports, and am interested in the fabrication side of the industry. Thankyou for your time, and i look forward to your response.
AnswerHello Emerson:
Certainly the Jim Russell school is a good starting point. Also the area around Charlotte North Carolina is full of race shops. There will also be chassis, engine and set-up schools in those areas that relate directly to circle track racing and of course NASCAR.
To improve your basic knowledge, there is nothing better than Circle Track Magazine (www.circletrack.com). Even if your interest leans toward road racing such as mine, the Circle Track mag is the best source of current technical thinking available to the public. In it you will also find adverts for schools of various types.
Finally take a look at these two websites: www.fasttimesfab.com and www.ktengines.com , and one more for general informantion : www.stockcarracing.com
Good luck in your quest, and I'd be interested in hearing about future successes
