Auto Racing: Computer Chip, ebay motors, kia spectra

Question
I bought a computer chip for my 2001 Kia Spectra GSX off of ebay.  It was a cheap $9.99 rather than the extremely expensive ones.  The description claims that this chip tricks the car's computer into thinking that colder than normal air is being sucked into the engine, which makes the engine work hard.  It says this is suppose to increase the horsepower 15-20 horses.  They claim that this does not hurt your engine or anything else.  Would you agree with this, or should I not install this in my car.  For an idea of what I am talking about, they have several types of these chips all over Ebay Motors.

Answer
HI Ryon.I'd agree with their claim as to not hurting the engine if "they" are a reputable name brand ,I don't think you'll see 20 horsepower on an engine this size ,10 ? more like it ,if it hurts mileage or no real power increase you can reinstall the oem piece ,the car'll "unlearn " the chages .though it may throw a code and need an ecm rest .Thanks JM
