NASCAR Racing: Nascar racing, national anthem, stock cars

Question
I just started watching nascar and I have a question. These races last around three hours and I was wondering what do the drivers do if they have to go to the bathroom during the race. I am very curious.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Samantha,

The drivers normally go to the restroom before the National Anthem and Prayer before the race.  However, any fluids they may drink from then on are actually leaving the body in the form of sweat.  The car are usually 125 degrees or hotter and the oil is located under the seat of the driver, so it makes it a lot hotter.  Driver actually lose 8-10 pounds a race because it is an exercise to work the car.  Those cars are not built for comfort and ease, as are our cars.  Stock cars were built to handle lots of speed, which means the handling and work the driver has to put in to turn it is significantly increased.  I VERY much encourage your enthusiasm for NASCAR.  Ask me if you have any more questions.
Hope I helped.
