BMW Repair: Misfire after head gasket change, charcoal canister, vacuum line

Question
Hi Don, I recently changed a head gasket on my M52 328i as well as seals on Vanos, "Beisan" but following what I thought was a good start up after install turned out to be more. Originally, misfire in 4,5,6,appeared, which I cleared. Following review of the Bentley I thought I had a Vacuum line coming off the intake in the wrong spot. This is the cloth braided small line that connects to the T before the charcoal canister which also goes to secondary air valve. I still don't know if it belongs there since the last guy had a plug on that spot, so if you can help with that also, great. I eventually disconnected that capped it off and put a screw in the vacuum line. Eventually, I started again and drove for 1.5 miles and coded misfire 1 and three. I did mess with the injector tips and made a makeshift install tool for O rings at the head. Is this a possibility or maybe my cam timing is off. I have not done a BMW before but many others and this sounds dead on except the misfire. Please Help!

Answer
Sorry for the delay.I think what you should do is start from the beginning and check the compression. If the timing is off due to valve timing it could be bad. That is why a compression test is important. After that a cyl leak down test should be done. This all will see if the motor is mechanically ok.Follow the decal on the car for the vacuum routing
