Hello,

My 1987 325e has a driving problem when the car gets wet in rainy days. I believe it is something related with the transmission because the engine keeps working but the car barely moves no matter if I depress the gas pedal to the maximum. Then some minutes after the rain has stopped and the engine/transmisssion are dry again the car continues working normally.
I really appreciate some hints on how to solve this problem.

Angel,
I know you said the car barely moves when it's raining, but could you be more specific?  Does it do this while driving down the road?  Does it only do this at stop-lights?
Does the engine sound normal, but the car just wont move?  Any sputtering or idle problems?

All of this info would help me to fix your problem.
 Thanks,
 Josh

Josh,
First of all thank you very much for your quick response. I will try to be more specific. If the rain begins and I drive over a wet spot then the car begins with this problem. The car slows down no matter if I accelerate it to the maximum... After some minutes driving the wet part (don't know which)gets dry again and the the car recover its normal condition again. I believe that it has something to do with some transmission sensor but I don't know which...

Thanks again!
Angel.

Answer
Angel,
My experience with we problems is usually from water getting into the ignition system.  Such as water spraying around the spark plugs, or getting inside the distributor cap.  Since this is a rather vague problem I would suggest you take the car to a trusted mechanic.  There's not much I can tell without actually seeing the car.

 Good luck,
 Josh
