BMW Repair: front passenger lock & glove box hinges, door hinges, bmw service

Question
Hi, I'm writing from Ireland. I have a 318i/se saloon late 1996. the problem i have is that the front passenger door wont open when i use my key in the drivers door, but when i use the same key in the 'faulty' door, all the locks open with no problem. Its only when i try to open from the drivers side that the only lock that doesn't open is the front passenger.
Tried disconnecting the battery for 7+ hours and tried locking the 2 front doors and the trunk door with the key several times. DIDN'T WORK! Was told that my central locking was 'out of sync'?? The BMW service here is terrible,no answers at all. Q2. my glovebox door hinges snapped, I asked for a price to buy a new one, 100 pounds! just for the door, cant afford it as im on benefits and trying to deal with cancer. My car gives me something to focus on. I can do without using the glovebox, but the door squeaks constantly and im finding it very annoying. Any thoughts????? Is it easy to take the door off, where would i find drawing info about my car parts on the net. I would really appreciate some help.
Thank you, David.

Answer
Lock:  Not sure from your question, but it sounds like the front passenger door won't unlock when told to electronically.  Will manually (with the key in that door).  If this is the case, remove the door panel and see if lock actuator has power going to it when the driver's door tells it to open.  If not, check the wiring to it.  If it does, try cleaning the mechanism, then replace the actuator if needed.

Glove box:  The door is straight forward to remove.  I recommend checking the web for a used part.
