BMW Repair: oil change, bmw x5, bmw motor

I have an '02 bmw x5 4.6 and I just wanted to know exactly where the oil drains from and exactly where the oil filter is. Having bmw doing it is costing way too much! Thanks

Steve, complaints about cost of maintenance on a BMW fall on deaf ears with me. The first 4yrs/50k or 3yrs/36k were free. No other luxury car line offers this. Not mercedes,lexus,acura,rover. Stepping off my soapbox the  Oil filter is in driver front corner behind headlight. Oil drains out the oil pan on the bottom of the motor as is standard on every BMW motor I have ever worked on. Should take 9qts of synthetic 5w-30 oil. I recommed only BMW oil filter kits.
