BMW Repair: No power in the morning., 2000 bmw 318i, bmw dealer

I have a 2000 BMW 318i E46 Automatic. In the mornings or after work (not particularly cold), I will put it in drive, and it will not pull at all. I have to rev 5-6k before it will even pull forward on the flat. After a few minutes on the road, it will pull from a light like a spring chicken. 80k miles on the clock, and 15k away from an oil service. Any help would be appreciated.

Garth, this is a transmission issue. I would encourage you to visit the BMW dealer as they may have new software for the trans. control module (EGS) that may fix this issue. This symptom sounds familiar on the GM5 transmission. If you have CPO warranty on the vehicle the transmission would be covered if it is diagnosed as faulty. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Expect to pay around a couple hours labor for the diag. and software reprogram.
