Question
QUESTION: Hi
Just purchased a bmw 325i 2001 plate and i am unable to unlock the doors on a occusions. The doors lock without any problems but unlocking is the problem. When i use the lock/unlock switch in the car i get the same probem It just wont unlock. Everytime i go to unlock the doors the interior lights switch on but doors dont open. The only way i manage to unlock the doors is by Constantly locking then unlocking (using fob key) and eventually it will unlock. The windows open/close using the fob key so am really confused? I really need your help because the electrician cant find the problem? :(

Thanks
ANSWER: Khali, I would replace the general module (body controller) behind the glove box. The relays for central locking are contained in it. It has to be coded by the dealer to work properly.

QUESTION: Hi
My Bmw 325i sport manual (2001) on occasions seems to struggle to go into 1st gear? All other gears seem to be fine just the 1st gear. It does not properly slot in so i have to push the clutch down again and then it will go in 1st? There is no grinding noise given when trying to change it into 1st gear?
Can you please advise?

Answer
Khali, Run the engine at idle speed with the parking brake on. Push the clutch pedal to the floor and hold. Push the shifter toward first gear until you hit the resistance point (half of the throw) and hold with normal shifting pressure. With the other hand turn the ignition off. If the shifter goes into gear when you turn the car off, this means that you have a problem with the clutch system. If it is still hard then the issue is with the shifter or internal trans. components. There is a bulletin about sticking shifter pin on 328i's and 330i's but not on 325i. Did you ever get your central lock problem resolved?
