BMW Repair: 2004 bmw 325i trunk, torx screws, release latch

Where can i find the tool to remove the trunk trim/unit that houses the licence plate lights/ trunk release latch for a 2004 bmw 325i.  My right licence plate light lost a piece of the metal that allows the light bulb to light up.  Can u tell me if this is an easy thing to fix or do i need to replace the whole unit?

Dennis, you probably need to replace the trunk handle strip that contains the license plate bulb holders. Should come off with four torx screws (probably a T-20 torx or the like). The unit comes primer grey so you can have it painted black (stock) or body color. I believe it is part number 51 13 7 170 966. Yes I would think that you could bolt it up yourself. Double check with your parts counter person on that number.
