BMW Repair: 1998 BMW 528i, 1998 bmw 528i, bmw 528i

Question
Evan, I have a 1998 BMW 528i vin # BM41488 with about 110,000 miles on it. I was driving pulling out after filling up and noticed some hesitation when accelerating.
When I got to a stoplight I could feel it misfiring. I got to work and left the car on to feel the tailpipe exhaust and it was defiantly misfiring I also could smell that the fuel mixture was not right.I had the head and waterpump replaced, and transmission service about two years ago and have not had to really do anything else to it besides oil every 5000 miles.Hoppfully you can help me with this problem. Oh yea I also replaced the spark plugs about 40,000 miles ago.
Thanks, Mark

Answer
Mark, misfires can be caused by any number of things. You need to have it diagnosed. Make sure your gas cap is tight. Could be an intake leak or PCV valve as they happen at higher mileage. It could also be an ignition coil or something more mechanical. If the check engine light didn't go on yet I would look for Air or fuel related issues.
