BMW Repair: bmw 316/e36 strarter doent engage, fuse box, bmw 316

Question
when i turn the key some times the starter does engage but most of the time it doesn't.It will start if i use a screwdriver between the contacts cable bat+ and the bendix on the starter itself!Does it have a secondary cellonoid between contact switch and the starter and which one is it in the fuse box?thank in advance.

Rob, I don't believe that there is a secondary solenoid. Is there voltage on the signal wire at the solenoid when the key is in the cranking position? You have proved that you are missing it by jumping B+ to it. You problem lies further up stream. I don't have access to non-USA wiring diagrams.
