BMW Repair: 325 Battery Location, shock tower, engine compartment

OK - Just got a 2002 325i and the battery died. Where is the battery located? Manual had no diagram and it was not obviously visible under the hood (could charge OK). Do I need to go to the dealer to replace this?

Andy, battery is in the Right rear of the trunk under the black plastic trim pannel (most BMW batteries are in the trunk). There are jumper posts in the engine compartment. Ground should be on the shock tower and Positve post should be on the intake manifold under a cover with a plus sign. You can charge from the underhood posts if you want. You don't need to go to the dealer if you don't want to.
