BMW Repair: central locking, glove box, gm

Question
Hi Evan.

I have a BMW answer, the central locking seems to have some issues on my car sometimes it work sometimes it does not, this is both using the key(remote lock button) and also the switch inside the car. Another thing that sometimes happens is if I try to use the key (manually) to open the car it sometimes only opens the front door. All very strange to me!!

Answer
Milton, The only common component I can think of with your set of issues is the control unit that controls the Central Locking system (General Module). The GM is behind the glove box in the module carrier. Usually white in color an has three connectors. If you disconnect the wrong connector first the vehicle alarm will go off. Just find the right sequence. If replaced it has to be encoded to the vehicle by the dealer.
