BMW Repair: key in trunk, hood latch, bmw new

Question
my daughter closed her trunk with her key in it, a 1999
323i, seems like the book shows a switch in the  footwell on the drivers side but I don"t see one , also the trunk lock was damaged and the only opened with the electronic switch on the key, do you know if we ordered a key from the dealer would their new key open the trunk electronically with no problem...thanks

Answer
Hi Louie,
There should be a trunk opening switch at the left side of the pillar where the driver's left knee is, right above the  hood
latch. If there is none, look at the lower area of the dashboard where it joins with the center console box.
When you get a new key, which is pre-coded by BMW New Jersey,
after initialization by the dealer, it will open your trunk
provided there is nothing wrong with your car's central locking system. Once the trunk lid opens and the original key is retrieved, then both keys have to be re-initialized together.
Have a nice weekend.
