climate control heater fan will not blow, will only work for a few minites when cold i have tried various combinations,a/c works ie, clicks in/out,the display unit seems fine all lights and functions work as they should, but still no heater blow
-----Answer-----
Hi Richard,
You failed to mention the year of manufacture of your 530d.
And when you say that the AC works, do you mean the blower turns on without cutting out later on its own, and the air gets cold?
Tino

Answer
Hello Richard,
Both the AC and the Heater rely on one blower motor. So if it blows normally when in AC mode but cuts out in Heater mode,
then the blower motor and the final stage switch/resistor
are working. The most probable culprit would be the AC/Heater control panel (module). Even if the heater valve and secondary water pump fails, the blower in heater mode should still run.
Since you mentioned "display unit", then your AC/Heater system is IHKA (automatic, with the control panel having a lot of buttons to push and not the IHKR which has 3 rotary knobs and 3 buttons).
Replacing the module is not a hard thing to do. But after replacement it has to be coded with a BMW GT1 or DIS. (read, dealer). If you can get a used IHKA panel (a very risky thing to do) similar to yours and coming from a car also similar to yours, then it may work without coding. But then it is a roll of the dice.
