BMW Repair: BMW 330 CI 2003, bmw dealer, bmw 330

Question
EV90065 - seat belt warning light stays on after buckled for about 8 minutes before shutting off.  Used car dealer had not been able to diagnose the problem and tells me he is not getting any codes errors when doing diagnostics.

Answer
Hi Ralph,
If only the driver is in the car when this happens, try looking at the driver's seat belt buckle, particularly the hole itself where you insert the seatbelt. Oftentimes, coffee or softdrinks gets spilled on it and prevents a good contact.
You can spray electronic cleaner into it (you can buy this from an auto supply store) but the key should be off. Also,
look at the lower area of the seatbelt buckle and verify that the wires from it goes to the connector beneath the seat without impediments (cans, bottles, etc.).
If the above still does not correct the problem, you may want to  detach the cable that comes from the driver's door and connects to the A-Pillar. Also clean with electronic spray the contacts and then re-attach.
Then look beneath the passenger seat and verify that the wires beneath are not detached, loose or kinked.
Other than this, if the condition still persists, you have to bring it to a dealer for diagnosis.
Please note that the safety restraint system is a potentially dangerous system to work on. Repair procedures
mandates detaching the battery negative terminal before proceeding with repairs and that only trained personnel do repairs. This necessitates setting the time/date after battery reconnection. Proceed at your own risk, having been forewarned that a BMW dealer is the best venue for this repair.
