BMW Repair: 1992 BMW325is, oxygen sensor, heating element

Question
I have a diagnostic tool that is suggesting an issue with my oxygen sensor heating relay.  I have already replayed the O2 sensor at the converter several months ago.  My question is what is the heating sensor and where is it located.

Answer
Hi John,
The heating element of the 02 sensor itself is built within the sensor. But the relay is within the electronic box on the left hand side of the engine compartment right before the
windshield. Open the box and the 02 heater relay is the one nearest the windshield among the 3 relays.
Some words of advice: You should have told me why you replaced the previous 02 sensor, and the actual fault code you got from your scanner this time. Also, codes for specific items does not automatically mean that the said item should be replaced--sometimes they really do. What it means is that there is something wrong in the circuit of that item(could be wirings, could be inputs, etc.).
Go ahead and replace the relay for it is not a costly item,
then clear the fault code and test it again(you have to run the engine until the 02 monitor of the scanner says that the 02 sensor is on closed loop, and do this several times since
a fault is usually stored only after several (usually 3)
occasions.
Don't hesitate to get back to me if you need more help.
