BMW Repair: Starts but will not run, e36 325i, possibilty

Hi, my hubby removed the battery from my e36 325i to do some welding in the boot area, after he  replaced the battery the car starts up fine but will only run for 1 to 2 seconds. The car was fine before he touched it, any help appreciated.

I know he removed and disconnected the battery, but there is a possibilty that the electricity from welding has shorted some electrical circuit, or fried it.

 Unfortunately there isn't much I can help with, because I cannot physically see the car, so you will have to do some wire tracing and find where the problem lies.
