BMW Repair: M535 Schnitzer 1986 problems, recon gearbox, salvage yard

Question
4/10/2006
I have an M535 Schnitzer 1986, its in amazing looking condition inside, oustide, underneath, however, here are the problems, none of which I have been able have fixed. First , the gearbox since ive had it (1 year) has always always been noisey apart from when you press the clutch but ive had it looked at and have been told the noise is from the main gearbox drive or something (not the clutch bearing) and to just put up with it becuase it could go in and on for years, well it did for one year, the other weak it started wining very loadly and then made an big cruch clang, it obviosly needs a new gearbox now (recon) but i cant find any one that does them?! The second problem is that the steering wobbles at 50 - 60mph but ive had the wheels balanced 4-5 times including swapping the back wheeels to the front etc, no change! No one knows what it is?! Next problem, The power is down, ive had it checked by middlesex tuning, they replaced the big pipe on the top of the engine (you can see that i am very technical), as there was a hole but it is still not as quick as the first 8 months that I owned it, it used to have a nice torquey response! Also when driving at faster speeds the steering wanders, there is play in the steering. Also, When you brake from fast speeds it pulls to the right.
So, as you can see there is not really much up with the car!
If you can help i would really appreciate it, the main things I am really interested in is the wobbling because i cant beleive know one knows what it is and where i can get a recon gearbox as the car wont run again until i can find one. Any help, much appreiated!!!!

Answer
The gear box should be easily gotten on ebay or a salvage yard.If you can't find one email me I have a 5 peed trans that came out of a M735i.
The wobbling I wouold look into the lower control arms as the ball joints may be bad.Check all the rubber bushings too as they crack(but can be replaced)
Hav the filters replaced will help too if they haven't been done yet.
