BMW Repair: Ignition lock replacement, car theif, bmw service

Question
I purchased a 1987 325es at an auction and it has no keys. I tried to get keys from BMW but they worked for the doors but not the ignition. So I purchased a new lock for the ignition and hired a locksmith to install it but we can not get the old one out. Do you have any idea, maybe even drilling, to get the old lock out so I can install the new one? Thanks for your help.
Greg
PS I asked BMW service after buying the lock and they said they could do it "no problem" all I have to do is to have it towed into them and they will get it done, however they will not tell me how to do it.!!!!

Answer
The usual method is to turn the ign key to  60 degrees and stick a very small drillbit in the tiny hole next to the key.
Since you have no key I would play car theif and slidehammer the key guts out till you can turn it and use the drillbit on it.
The steering wheel is usually locked onto the column when the key is locked but you can try getting it off and maybe use the new cylinder as a guide to drill into the casing but that would be a little risky.
