RV Repair: RV roof air condtioning/HELP, duo therm, rv roof

Question
I have a 1984 Chevy Allegro. With two air condtionings in the roof. The front air condtioning does not run off the Generator and want to know what the problem could be.Is there anything that you can tell me to get done to it, in order for me to use it this summer?I do appreciate you for your time and consideration in this matter very much.

Answer
On a motorhome this old, it is hard to tell what might be wrong. It could be a circuit board. It could be a fuse. It could be in the wiring. Some A/C's are equipped with a fuse in the A/C itself. If one A/C is working and the other is not, then I would guess it is a wiring problem somewhere. Is it the original A/C unit? Does it turn on, but not give cold air? Or does it not turn on at all? What brand of A/C is it? If you know what brand it is, you may be able to get on their website and find a troubleshooting guide. My guess is it is probably a Duo-Therm or a Coleman.
You probably should have a professional take a look at it if none of the above works for you.
It could also be that the A/C unit is so old that it is simply no good any longer. After 22 years that could very well be the case, and it might not be worth the money to repair it.
Hope some of this helps.
