GMC Repair: Dead battery, gmc yukon xl, 2007 gmc yukon xl

Question
I went to start my 2007 gmc Yukon XL this morning, to find out it didn't turn on. No lights came on I sat in my truck for a minute and I heard clicking noises coming from the driver side. The interior lights came on but very dim. I tried to turn it on again but no such luck. I was able to charge the battery and drive it to a auto part store and they told me the battery and alternator are good!! I drove it to work and noticed the oil gauge moving, when I was stopped the needle would go to 20, when I pushed on the gas the needle went to 40 to 50. I never had that problem before. I asked a question online to a GM employee and he said to change the fuel pump but I am not to sure what that has to do with my battery. My vehicle has been driving fine no battery issues.

Answer
Hi
Really sound to me like a bad battery. Batteries can show good and perfect on initial check and actually be faulty. There was a reprogram for the BCM on the 2007 Yukons to address battery life issues. The recall was free, however it expired with the 3/36 warranty.
There is also an issue with the Mega-Fuse (located on the firewall, close to the battery) where the positive cables get fretting/corrosion and make poor contact. One of the positive cables bolt to one side of this fuse, and from the other side of the fuse, the cable travels along the firewall to the underhood fuse box on the drivers side. (Fuse is located under a small plastic cover about 12" from the battery)
Lastly I would check both the positive and negative cables at the battery for corrosion at the battery posts and where they bolt to the block for negative, and the starter/mega fuse for the positive.
Check the battery again, have them load test it twice to see if it fails again.
Good luck
