GMC Repair: Code P0440, chevy silverado, purge valve

Question
I have a 2002 Z71 4x4 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.0L. I had the Fuel pump replace about a month ago. now I get a check engine light, in which I had the code check it points to the EVAP, a couple of forums point to the purge valve. My question is, first where is the purge valve located, is it easy to replace, and do you think is a good place to start looking based on the fault code? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi
It is possible to be the purge valve. Po440 is a general fault code, really only telling that there is a leak in the EVAP system.  My first thought while reading the post, is that the seal around the fuel pump to fuel tank may be leaking, or maybe pinched somehow distorted, allowing a leak. If there was no code before, This would be on my most likely guess.
After that, I would guess the EVAP vent control solenoid sticking on or open. It is located on that year model, between the cab and bed (if an EXT cab) or on the rear end of fuel tank (if a REG cab.)
After that the purge solenoid MAY be sticking open, although they are not as common as fault. It is located oon top of engine on going in the intake.
IF in doubt, you can always take it to a well equipped shop, and they can seal the system and induce white smoke into the system. Then when checking with a bright light, the smoke will appear coming from where the leak is. This ends all questions.
I hope this helps
