GMC Repair: dead battery, gmc sierra, amp meter

Question
I dive a 2007 new body style gmc Sierra z71 My battery went completely dead this morning I had no lights left on anit was running an cranking just fine the day before.  I'm pretty sure it's not my alternator.  This is the second time this has happened. I replaced the battery the first time.  Could you please help me out?

Answer
I would have the battery checked. It could be a bad battery.
As far as running the battery down, you may have a parasitic draw, which is drawing too much current from the battery.
You need to install an amp meter IN SERIES with the negative cable. It should after 5 mins. be drawing about .25ma. If it is drawing more than that, you need to pull one fuse at a time until the excessive draw goes away. That will be the circuit where the high current is draining the battery.
Hope this helps
