GMC Repair: Radio, gmc envoy xl, gmc envoy

Our 2003 GMC Envoy XL recently decided to have radio problems and I'm looking for the likely culprit.  The radio appears to be functioning properly according to the digital display, however, there is zero sound coming from it.  Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I think you'r on the correct track.
If it happene0d all of a sudden, with no  other symptoms before hand (low volume, etc..) I would suspect the radio.
If the symptoms got progressivly worse, say volume diminished oved a period of time, I would then look at the speakers (they do go out often, and believe it or not in pairs).
Before I spent $$$ on a radio, I would have the speakers checked out just to be on the safe side.
