GMC Repair: buick regal grand sport, buick regal, good connections

QUESTION: my 1990 buick, (58,000 mi) just cut out while i was driving. just shut right off.  everything electical is dead and there isn't even a grinding when i turn the key.  i just had a tune up and the battery replaced. help?!

ANSWER: if you just had the battery replaced  I would check to make sure you have good connections at both cables, if the battery was leaking acid it might have a bad cable or corrosion trapped between the cable and the battery

QUESTION: ah ha!  that's what i was thinking but....my hubby thinks it the alternator?  is this a possibility?!  thanks for answering so promptly before!!!

it could be an alternator, if it is not charging the vehicle at all it would cause the battery to drain down, often times if the alternator is not charging it will cause a battery light to come on, but not always.  It sounds like the charging system needs to be checked.  CHances are that if the alternator is bad it may have taken the battery out too.
